Philanthropy
The Alpha-Sigma Chapter and The Kappa Sigma Fraternity are strongly committed to making a difference in the lives of others. It is this commitment that has provided the inspiration and vision for "A Greater Cause," Kappa Sigma's bold initiative to promote volunteerism, citizenship, and service to the community.
Kappa Sigma as a national organization promotes its Military Heroes Campaign which all chapters of Kappa Sigma support. The campaign was designed to honor and aid the thousands of wounded military veterans returning from active duty. The campaign focuses particularly on providing charitable assistance to the Fisher House Foundation, a segment of the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund that provides free housing to wounded veterans and their families throughout the duration of rehabilitation.
Independent of the Military Heroes Campaign, the Alpha-Sigma Chapter hosts an annual silent auction of various sports memorabilia and other items donated by individuals and local businesses in support of the cause to find a cure for ALS, or better known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. Through its partnership with the ALS Association of Central and Southern Ohio as well as Ann Arbor Active Against ALS, The Alpha-Sigma Chapter raises over $7,000 annually to assists those living with ALS as well as to fund further research in the effort to find a cure.
