27 Pledge Alpha-Sigma 01/25/2012
Twenty-seven undergraduate men have pledged themselves to become members of the Alpha-Sigma Chapter this academic quarter. This is the largest pledge class Alpha-Sigma has had in recent history and is certainly a testament to not only recruiting ability, but the success of the chapter. The twenty-seven men selected to join the historic and renowned Alpha-Sigma chapter display individual characters of the highest quality, which we as initiates of the active chapter, are certain will represent Alpha-Sigma as gentlemen, community leaders, and men of all-around excellence. The chapter is on pace to exceed 100 members by the end of the academic year and a culture of achievement and continuous effort to better ourselves as brothers, men, and a chapter is steadfast and thriving. The outgoing officers are David Deckelman (Grand Master), Chris Atkins (Grand Procurator), Matt O'Reilly (Grand Master of Ceremonies), and Cody Carpp (Grand Scribe). Dan Broxmeyer (Grand Treasurer) was re-elected and will be returning for his second term. This past summer, the Alpha-Sigma chapter received a number of awards at Kappa Sigma's finest hour, Grand Conclave, which was hosted this year in Las Vegas, NV. Alpha-Sigma distinguished themselves as one of the elite Kappa Sigma chapters in the country by being one of only three out of over 250 Kappa Sigma chapters to take home the prestigious Founder's Circle Award for the highest level of chapter excellence. Along with it, Alpha-Sigma also won the F.A.C.E. Award for overall chapter excellence, Champion's Quest Champion Chapter for a chapter of over 50 members or the largest on campus, A Greater Cause Excellence Award for outstanding community service and philanthropy, and Outstanding Brothers In Action Award for an excellent pledge education program. The Alpha-Sigma Chapter was also recognized for their outstanding commitment to academics, having one of the top 25 cumulative chapter GPAs out of every Kappa Sigma chapter across the nation and Canada. Locally, The Alpha-Sigma chapter took home Ohio State's Outstanding Community Service Award for the most community service hours out of any Greek organization during the 2010-2011 school year. | Archives |
