What is Rush?
Rush is a term used to describe the formal period of recruitment for Fraternities. Rush typically takes place during the first two weeks of each quarter or semester. During this time each Fraternity will hold a number of events for potential new members to attend that will provide rushes with the opportunity to learn what various chapters have to offer as an organization, as well as a chance to meet and get to know the members of the fraternities they visit. Any undergraduate male interested in joining a Fraternity is free to attend as many rush events and to look into however many chapters they want to. It is encouraged that potential new members look into multiple fraternities in order to make an informed decision if they should decide to join one of the many great fraternities at Ohio State. At the end of Rush, each Fraternity will extend a formal invitation to interested rushes that display a character aligned with the values of that particular organization.
Why Kappa Sigma?
Kappa Sigma at Ohio State has a long history as one of the elite chapters on campus with one of the strongest and closest brotherhoods that continues to push itself and the Greek community to new heights. Our chapter has produced a 3-time gold medal winner and world record setting athlete, numerous Ohio State football All-Americans and captains, NFL football players, a Hollywood producer, executives of IBM, Proctor & Gamble, Nabisco, and WBNS, collegiate professors, multiple mayors of Columbus, and many more successful businessmen, politicians, and engineers. What makes men from our chapter successful is a culture of leadership, developed networking and social skills, and a deeply embedded desire to constantly continue to build our character as individuals and become better men throughout life. The best part about our Fraternity is the life-long friendships that are developed. Brothers who were undergraduates as far back as the 1950's still gather together at monthly alumni luncheons where they recall cherished memories with old friends and share their experiences with current undergraduate brothers as well. Anyone that is a brother of our chapter will be sure to tell you that their time spent as an undergraduate in the Fraternity has benefited them in their college experience and life overall.
